Red Rock Canyon Photo Shoot
After reshooting the book cover for the second Bewitching book, we decided to do a country-esque photo shoot with one of my favorite models, Jenny Squires. Her sister, Michelle Squires, was kind enough to do the hair for the session which we shot over at Red Rock Canyon in Las Vegas last month.
I can’t begin to say how beautiful that area is for a country-esque photo shoot, or at least as close as one can get in the desert. The only thing missing was a barn or a tractor, something to add an extra country like feel. Even some longer grass may have helped. Although we also only explored a tiny area of Red Rock, and there are some old structures around the area. I’m not sure if we would have been allowed to use them, although it might not hurt to ask for next time.
Red Rock is a beautiful place to shoot photos. There are places around there that have an arid, country in the desert feel with its old wooden walkways and building structures, and with a short hike one can easily find themselves surrounded by the mountains and hot springs. I’m thinking it might be fun to take a trip out there again at some point to explore the area a bit more, even if just to grab some nature pics.
For those a bit more adventurous, I could even see it being easy to find a quiet spot to shoot a myriad of films based on desolated areas or even another planet with a tiny bit of SF work. Sadly, I’m a bit short on ideas for those types of films.
If anyone is in the Las Vegas area and needs a great hairstylist, you can find Michelle over on Facebook at her Envogue Salon page. Feel free to shoot her a message. She does amazing work and colorings, and I can’t thank her enough for doing Jenny’s hair every time we do a shoot such as this one.
